Opener: Research cloud seeding. When did it start? What is it? How does it work? What is happening now with cloud seeding? Are there any negative effects? Do other countries do it?
Today we will be finishing up our peer presentations for the rest of the chapter.
For your homework you will be preparing for a debate we will having on Friday. We will be debating whether or not a dam should be constructed at the low end of the Hetch Hetchy Valley to create a freshwater reservoir.
Below is the resources you will use to start with to create your debate and presentations.
The groups will be the following:
City of San Fran-Katrina and Daniel
San Joaquin Valley Farmer-Maribeth and Karis
Army Corp-Nic and Geoffrey
Spring Valley Water Company-Jenny and McKenna
Conservationists-Victoria and Michaela
Preservationist-Dani and Cierra
We will be debating and presenting on Friday. Each group will have seven minutes to share their side and convince the rest of us to agree with them. After all groups have shared we will open up with a debate. This will be a discussion, no visual aids will be allowed during this time. I will be acting as the moderator and at the end of the debate I will make a decision based on the evidence presented and the debates that take place.
Groups will be evaluated on the following:
Visual Presentation
Knowledge of subject matter
Verbal presentation and clarity of debate
Extra Points: Getting into character and dressing up

Today we will be watching the video "Cadillac Desert." You will need to write a 250 word response to the film. What are your thoughts, what impressed you about the history of water diversion to Los Angeles. If you are not here to watch the movie, you will need to do this at home. The video links are below. Sorry it is in pieces, but the file is way to big for me to repost as one. Your response will be due when you get back from break or you can email it to me earlier if you feel like.
